Inbound: the customer calls

EV charger quotes started with the panel photo

The EV charger call is one of the best calls you get, and it often leads to a panel. Emma asks what the estimator needs, gets a photo of the panel by text, and books the quote while the buyer is still excited.

When it starts

A homeowner buying or picking up an electric car, or with a charger already in the box.

What the agent does

Collects car, charger, panel size, run length and a photo, gives your starting price, books the quote.

What your team gets

An estimator who walks in knowing whether it's a circuit or a panel job.

How it works

  1. The car and the charger

What they're driving, when it arrives, and whether they've already bought a charger or want you to supply one.

  2. The panel

Main breaker size, how full it looks, and its age if they know. A photo of the panel and its label, texted while they're on the phone.

  3. The run

Where the panel is, where they'll park, inside or outside, finished basement or open ceiling. It changes the job a lot.

  4. Your starting price

If you set one, she gives it with what it includes. The firm number comes from your estimator after the visit.

  5. Books the quote visit

Two estimator slots, a text confirmation, and a note to have the panel area clear.

  6. Flags the panel jobs

A 100-amp panel with a full row of breakers is marked as a likely upgrade, so the estimator plans for it.

Example call

  1. CustomerI'm picking up an electric car next month and need a charger put in the garage. How does that work?
  2. AI agentExciting. A few details help our estimator. What's the car, and have you bought a charger yet?
  3. CustomerAn Ioniq 5. No charger yet.
  4. AI agentGot it. Is your panel in the basement or the garage, and do you know if it's 100 or 200 amps?
  5. CustomerBasement, front of the house. I think it says 100.
  6. AI agentThanks. I'm texting you a link. A photo of the panel door open, showing the breakers and label, saves the estimator a lot of guessing.
  7. CustomerOkay, sent.
  8. AI agentThat's clear, it's 100 amps and fairly full. Our installs start at 1,650 dollars for a simple run. Priya can come Thursday at 4 to measure and give you a firm price.
  9. CustomerThursday works.

After the call: Priya's Thursday 4:00 quote has the Ioniq 5, no charger, a 100-amp panel at the front of the basement and the panel photo, marked "likely load calculation or upgrade".

What your team gets

  • Quote visits with the car, charger, panel and run already known
  • Panel photos filed with the call
  • Likely panel upgrades flagged for the estimator
  • Your starting price said the same way every time
  • A monthly count of EV enquiries and booked quotes
Set up with you: The team loads your EV install starting price and the questions your estimator wants, turns on photo texting, and sets up a connection to your estimating and scheduling software so quote visits land on the right calendar.

Questions

Can she tell if they need a panel upgrade?

No, that's your estimator's call. She marks a likely upgrade from the panel size and photo so the estimator comes prepared.

Will she recommend a charger brand?

Only the ones you supply or recommend, if you give her a list. Otherwise she notes what they ask about.

Does she book permits?

She notes that the job will need one and your permits person takes it from there once the quote is signed.
