Inbound: the customer calls

Half-house outages sorted from grid outages

After a windstorm, half your calls are the utility's problem. Emma asks the questions that tell the difference, gives grid callers the outage line, and books your electricians for the houses that really have a fault.

When it starts

A caller with no power, part power, flickering lights or a breaker that keeps tripping.

What the agent does

Sorts grid outages from house faults, runs your approved checks and books the service call.

What your team gets

Service calls for real faults only, with what's out and what was checked.

How it works

  1. Asks about the street

Do the neighbours have lights? Is the streetlight on? A whole street out is a utility call, and she gives them the outage number you set.

  2. Maps what's out

One room, one floor, half the house, or lights dim while others are bright. Each points to something different for your electrician.

  3. Checks the breakers your way

Only the checks you approve, like looking for a breaker in the middle position. She never asks anyone to remove a cover.

  4. Hears the warning signs

Lights brightening and dimming, a hot smell, buzzing at the panel. Those go straight to your emergency path.

  5. Books the service call

Two open times, a text confirmation, and a reminder to clear a path to the panel.

  6. Keeps storm days sane

On a storm day she answers every caller at once, so the real faults aren't lost under utility calls.

Example call

  1. CustomerHalf my house lost power but the neighbours still have theirs. Is it my panel?
  2. AI agentLet's narrow it down. Are the lights that are still on any brighter or dimmer than usual?
  3. CustomerNo, they look normal. The kitchen and the back bedrooms are just dead.
  4. AI agentThanks. If you look at the panel without opening anything, is any breaker sitting in the middle, not fully on or off?
  5. CustomerYeah, one big one is in the middle.
  6. AI agentThat's helpful. Since it's a larger breaker, I'd rather an electrician look than reset it over the phone. I have Raj today at 3 or tomorrow at 8.
  7. CustomerToday at 3.
  8. AI agentBooked. Please keep the area in front of the panel clear. If you notice any burning smell or buzzing before then, call us right back.

After the call: Raj's 3:00 shows a partial outage in Barrie, kitchen and back bedrooms out, a double-pole breaker in the middle position, lights elsewhere normal. The caller has a text with the time.

What your team gets

  • Grid outages given the utility number, not a truck
  • Service calls with what's out and what the panel shows
  • Warning signs routed straight to on-call
  • Storm-day calls answered all at once
  • A storm report of calls sorted and booked
Set up with you: The team writes your outage questions, approved breaker checks and utility numbers with you, sets up a connection to your ServiceTitan, Jobber or Service Fusion schedule so service calls land there, and you hear test calls first.

Questions

Will she tell people to reset a breaker?

Only if you approve it, and only for the breakers you say. Many shops prefer the electrician look at anything that trips twice.

How does she know it's a utility outage?

She asks whether the neighbours and streetlights are out. A whole street points to the utility, and she gives the outage line you provide.

What about flickering across the house?

Lights going bright and dim across the house can be a serious fault. Your wording decides, and most shops send that to on-call.
