Pallet and lane quotes priced from your tariff
A shipper with four skids for Halifax gets a number on the call when the lane is on your tariff, and a complete request on the pricing desk when it isn't. Nobody calls back to ask for the dimensions.
A shipper or a new prospect calls asking what a lane will cost.
Collects origin, destination, skids, weight, class and extras, and prices it from the customer's tariff.
A priced quote or a clean request on the pricing desk, tied to the account.
How it works
- Knows the account
From the caller's number or company name it finds the shipper and the tariff they're on. A first-time caller is set up as a prospect with their contact details.
- Takes the lane
Origin and destination postal codes, the ship date and whether the receiver is a business with a dock or a home with a driveway.
- Gets the freight right
Skid count, weight, dimensions, commodity and freight class, and whether anything is stackable. It reads the numbers back so a 48 by 40 doesn't become a 48 by 48.
- Adds the extras
Liftgate, inside delivery, residential, appointment at the receiver, tailgate or heated service in winter. Each one priced as an accessorial on the tariff.
- Gives the number, or sends it up
A lane on the shipper's tariff is quoted on the call with the transit days. Anything off the sheet, oversized or over-dimension goes to pricing with every detail filled in.
- Turns a yes into a pickup
If they like the price, it books the pickup on the same call and emails the quote number with the rate and terms.
Example call
- CustomerHi, it's Raj at Northline Cabinets in Concord. What would it be to ship four skids to Halifax next Wednesday?
- AI agentHappy to price that, Raj. Are they standard 48 by 40, and roughly what's the total weight?
- CustomerStandard, about 1,800 kilos all in. They're kitchen cabinets, not stackable.
- AI agentGot it, non-stackable cabinetry. Is the Halifax address a business with a dock, or will it need a liftgate?
- CustomerIt's a showroom on Kempt Road. No dock.
- AI agentOn your tariff that lane comes to 1,146 dollars with the liftgate included, about four business days in transit. Want me to book the pickup for Wednesday?
- CustomerYes, please. Afternoon is better.
- AI agentBooked between 1 and 5 Wednesday at your Concord dock. I'm emailing quote number Q-40211 with the rate and the pickup details now.
After the call: The quote is saved on Northline's account with the lane, skids, weight and liftgate. The pickup sits on Wednesday's board for dispatch, and Raj has the quote number by email.

Questions
Will it guess at a rate?
No. It quotes only from the tariff on the shipper's account. Anything outside it becomes a request for your pricing desk.
Can it work out freight class?
It asks the commodity, weight and dimensions and uses the class your account notes give for that product. If the class is unclear, pricing sets it before the quote goes out.
What about truckload or cross-border lanes?
It takes the details the same way, equipment, dates, customs broker and border crossing, and passes them to the person who prices those lanes.
Does it handle quote calls in French?
Yes. Shippers in Quebec and New Brunswick can quote in French, and it asks before switching.
