Night drops and tow-ins checked in for the morning
At 9 p.m. a customer is standing at your key slot with no idea what to write on the envelope, and a tow truck is calling to ask where to leave a dead minivan. Both are answered, and the writer opens up to a list instead of a mystery.
A call after close from someone dropping a car, or a tow driver bringing one in.
Takes the name, car, plate, what it needs and where it's parked, then texts the customer.
A morning check-in list with every overnight arrival and what each needs.
How it works
- Answers after close
Evenings, weekends and holidays, in the shop's name. The caller hears your night-drop rules: where the slot is, what to put in the envelope, where to park.
- Takes the car's story
Name, cell, plate, year, make and model, and what it's in for. If it's a new problem, the symptom questions are asked the same way as on a daytime call.
- Logs tow-ins
A tow driver gets where to leave it, which gate, and where the keys go. The agent takes the tow company, the owner's name and number if the driver has them, and why it won't run.
- Links it to a booking
If the car already had an appointment, the note goes on it. If not, it opens a work order for the first free diagnostic time in the morning.
- Texts the owner
A text confirms the car is logged, the shop's opening time, and that the writer will call once it's looked at.
- Hands over at opening
The writer starts the day with a list of overnight arrivals, each with the plate, the parking spot and what the customer wants done.
Example call
- CustomerHi, I'm at your back lot with a tow. Minivan, owner says it won't start. Where do you want it?
- AI agentThanks for calling Otonabee Auto. Please leave it in the row along the east fence, keys in the slot by the side door. Which tow company are you with?
- CustomerKawartha Towing. Owner's name is Bernadette Lapointe.
- AI agentGot it. Do you have a number for her, and do you know what it did before it quit?
- CustomerI'll read it off the slip. 705-555-0186. She said it cranked but wouldn't catch.
- AI agentPerfect. East fence, keys in the slot, cranks but won't start. I'll text Ms. Lapointe that it's here and the writer will call her in the morning.
After the call: A work order opens for the first diagnostic slot at 7:30 with "cranks, no start, towed in by Kawartha Towing, east fence". Ms. Lapointe gets a text that the van arrived, and the writer sees it at the top of the morning list.

Questions
Can it handle a tow driver who calls with no owner details?
Yes. It takes the plate and vehicle and logs the tow-in anyway. The writer finds the owner in the morning from the plate or the tow company.
Does it book the car for a time?
It puts the car on the first free diagnostic time you set for overnight arrivals, or adds the note to the appointment it already had.
What if someone after hours needs a tow arranged?
It gives them the tow company you work with, or texts your on-call person if you choose to take those calls at night.
