Inbound: the customer calls

Unit size matched to what they're storing, then reserved

Half the calls to a storage office start with "I have no idea what size I need." The agent asks what's going in, recommends a size from your guide, and reserves a real vacant unit while the manager is out on the drive-up rows.

When it starts

Someone calls asking about sizes, prices or what's open.

What the agent does

Asks what they're storing, recommends a size, checks what's vacant, reserves it with a move-in time.

What your team gets

A reservation on a real unit, the move-in time and what the tenant is storing.

How it works

  1. Asks what's going in

Rooms, big pieces, boxes. A sectional, a king bed, a piano, a motorcycle, a business's inventory pallets.

  2. Recommends a size

From your own size guide, and says why: "a 10 by 10 fits a one-bedroom, a 10 by 15 if you want to walk in."

  3. Explains the types

Drive-up for heavy stuff and easy loading, indoor climate-controlled for wood furniture, photos, documents and instruments.

  4. Checks what's vacant now

Offers only sizes that are actually open, with the monthly rate and any move-in special from your current rates.

  5. Reserves the unit

Holds a real unit for their move-in date and time, and texts what to bring: photo ID, a disc lock, proof of insurance or the protection plan.

  6. Sells the supplies

Asks whether they need boxes, tape, mattress covers or a lock, and has them set aside at the counter.

Example call

  1. AI agentThanks for calling StoreSafe Barrie, this is Emma. Are you looking for a unit?
  2. CustomerYeah, we're renovating the kitchen and the living room. Everything has to go somewhere for about three months.
  3. AI agentLet's figure out the size. Roughly what's coming? Couch, table, chairs, boxes?
  4. CustomerA couch, a dining set for six, a hutch, a TV unit, and maybe twenty boxes.
  5. AI agentA 10 by 10 should fit that with a bit of room. The hutch is solid wood? Then I'd suggest indoor climate-controlled. I have one open at 179 a month, first month half off.
  6. CustomerOkay, good. Can we move in Saturday?
  7. AI agentSaturday works. What time will you arrive? ... 10 a.m., you're reserved. Do you need a lock or boxes waiting at the counter?
  8. CustomerA lock, and some boxes.
  9. AI agentI'll have a disc lock and a bundle of medium boxes set aside. I'll text you what to bring now. See you Saturday.

After the call: A climate-controlled 10 by 10 is reserved for Saturday at 10 with the renovation and the solid wood hutch noted, a disc lock and boxes are on the counter list, and the tenant has the bring-along text.

What your team gets

  • Reservations held on a real vacant unit
  • What the tenant is storing, noted on the reservation
  • Move-in times on the day's schedule
  • Locks, boxes and covers set aside before they arrive
  • Calls answered while the manager is out on the property
Set up with you: The team loads your size guide, unit types, rates and specials, sets up a connection to your facility management software (SiteLink, storEDGE or Hummingbird) for live vacancy and reservations, and sets what move-in specials she may mention.

Questions

Will it quote a rate you haven't set?

No. It reads the current rate and special for that unit size from your management software. If you change a rate, the next caller hears the new one.

What if the size they want is full?

It says so, offers the closest size that's open, and adds them to the list for their first choice if you keep one.

Can it sell insurance or a protection plan?

It explains what you require and your plan's details, as you describe them, and notes their choice for the move-in.

Does it work for business storage?

Yes. It asks about pallets, shelving, deliveries and access needs, and recommends a size and unit type that fit.
