Boaters with a dead engine put through to the dockmaster
A boat with a dead engine off the breakwall can't wait for a callback. The agent gets the facts in seconds, and the dockmaster picks up already knowing where to look.
A boater calls with an engine that won't start, a fouled prop, a dead battery or a boat they can't dock.
Takes the boat, position, people aboard and problem, then warm-transfers to the dockmaster.
The dockmaster on the line with the facts, and a service request for the morning.
How it works
- Safety first
If anyone is hurt, the boat is taking on water or it's drifting into danger, it tells them to call the Coast Guard on channel 16 or 911, as you set.
- Gets the facts
Boat name, length, where they are ("off the red buoy past the breakwall"), how many aboard, and what's wrong.
- Puts them through
A warm transfer to the dockmaster, with the boat, position and problem said first.
- No answer? Keeps trying
The dockmaster and the on-call service tech get a text and call right away, and the boater is told who is coming.
- Opens the work
A service request with the engine and the symptom, for a tech to look at once the boat is in.
- Holds a slip
If they're coming in on a tow, it holds a slip near the service dock.
Example call
- CustomerHi, our engine just died. We're just outside your harbour, near the green marker.
- AI agentOkay, let's get you help. Is anyone hurt, and is the boat taking on any water?
- CustomerNo, everyone's fine. We just can't get it started.
- AI agentGood. What's the boat name and length, and how many are aboard?
- CustomerBlue Heron, a 22-foot bowrider, four of us. We've dropped the anchor.
- AI agentSmart. I'm putting you through to Pierre, our dockmaster, now. He'll know you're Blue Heron near the green marker. One moment.
After the call: Pierre took the call knowing the boat and its position, and went out with the work boat. A service request for Blue Heron's engine is open for the morning, and a slip by the service dock is held.

- Coast Guard or 911 named when there's danger

Questions
Does it diagnose the engine?
No. It takes the symptom in the boater's words and puts them through. The diagnosis is your tech's.
What if it's a real emergency?
It tells them to call the Coast Guard on channel 16 or 911 right away, following your wording, and then alerts the dockmaster.
What happens after hours?
It calls and texts the on-call number you set. If nobody answers, it tells the boater plainly and gives the towing number you've chosen.
