Inbound: the customer calls

Ride-now orders put on the dispatch board

At 2 a.m. on a Saturday or the first snowstorm in November, everyone calls at once. Every caller gets an answer, every order goes on the board in the order it came in, and nobody hears a busy signal.

When it starts

A rider calls for a cab right now.

What the agent does

Takes the pickup and destination, puts the order on the board, texts the driver and ETA.

What your team gets

Every order on the board, in order, during the busiest hour of the week.

How it works

  1. Picks up every call

As many at once as come in. Nobody is asked to call back.

  2. Gets the pickup

Address or landmark, read back: the Scotiabank Centre side entrance, the Tim's on Spring Garden.

  3. Asks the destination

So dispatch can price it, and so drivers can pick fares heading their way.

  4. Puts it on the board

As a ride-now order, in the order it came in.

  5. Gives a real wait

The wait time the board shows right now, honestly, even if it's 40 minutes in a storm.

  6. Texts the details

When a driver takes it, the rider gets the driver's name, the car, the plate and the ETA.

Example call

  1. CustomerHi, I need a cab from the Scotiabank Centre, the Argyle Street side, to Clayton Park.
  2. AI agentGot it, Argyle Street side of the Scotiabank Centre, to Clayton Park. How many of you?
  3. CustomerThree.
  4. AI agentIt's busy after the game, so the wait right now is about 25 minutes. Want me to book it?
  5. CustomerYeah, go ahead.
  6. AI agentBooked. You'll get a text with the driver's name and plate as soon as one takes it. Wait by the Argyle doors.

After the call: The order is on the board at 10:52 p.m. A driver takes it eight minutes later, and the rider gets a text with the driver, the car, the plate and a 17-minute ETA.

What your team gets

  • Every ride-now call on the board, in order
  • Honest wait times from the board
  • Driver name, car, plate and ETA texted to the rider
  • Busy-hour call counts, so you know when to add cars
  • No callers lost to a busy signal
Set up with you: The team sets up a connection to your dispatch system (iCabbi, TaxiCaller, Autocab or DDS) so orders go straight on the board and wait times are read from it.

Questions

Can it really put the order on the board?

Yes. The order appears on the board like any other, and a driver takes it.

What does it say when the wait is long?

The real wait the board shows, and the rider decides.

Can regulars skip the address?

Yes. It recognises their phone number and asks if it's their usual pickup.
