GIC and term deposit maturities called ahead
A GIC that matures without a conversation often leaves for a bank's promotion. The member hears from you a few weeks ahead and sits down with an advisor who knows them.
A GIC or term deposit maturing in the window you set.
Calls with the maturity date, asks what they're thinking, books an advisor meeting.
Advisor meetings booked before maturity, and members' plans on the booking.
How it works
- Builds the list
GICs and term deposits maturing 21 to 45 days out, with the branch and the member's usual advisor.
- Calls with the date
"Your GIC at the Truro branch comes due on the 14th, and Sheila would like to go over it with you."
- Asks what's ahead
Saving for a trip, helping a grandchild with school, topping up a TFSA or RRSP, or keeping it working.
- Books the advisor
A meeting before the maturity date, at the branch or by phone, with the purpose noted.
- Respects a quick answer
A member who already knows they want to renew is booked a short call with the advisor, or noted as you prefer.
Example call
- AI agentHi Mrs. Doucette, it's Emma from Valley Coastal Credit Union. Is now a good time? It's about your GIC coming due on the 14th.
- CustomerOh, is that already? Time flies.
- AI agentIt does. Sheila at the Truro branch would like to go over your options before then. Is anything coming up you'd like the money for?
- CustomerMy granddaughter starts university in the fall. I wanted to help with that.
- AI agentThat's lovely. Sheila can talk you through that. She has Tuesday at 2 or Thursday at 10:30.
- CustomerTuesday at 2.
- AI agentBooked. I'll text you a reminder, and you're welcome to bring your granddaughter if you like.
After the call: Sheila has Tuesday at 2 with the GIC maturity date and "wants to help granddaughter with university in the fall" on the booking. She comes prepared to talk about an RESP top-up and a shorter term.

Questions
Does it quote the renewal rate?
No. It points members to your posted rates and books the advisor for the rest.
Will it say the balance?
No. It gives the maturity date and branch, nothing about amounts.
What if the member wants to move the money?
She notes it kindly and books the advisor, who has the conversation.
