Potholes and road hazards logged by exact location
Every report arrives as a ticket public works can act on: which road, which side, between which crossroads. Real hazards don't wait for a ticket. They go straight to the supervisor on call.
A resident reports a pothole, a streetlight out, a missed plow, a blocked culvert or a tree down.
Pins the exact location, opens a service request, gives a ticket number, transfers hazards.
A ticket in the work order queue with location and photos, and hazards on the on-call phone.
How it works
- Asks what and where
The road, the nearest address or crossroad, which lane or side. On a rural road, the fire number of the closest house.
- Checks it's a town road
A county road or provincial highway is told who to call, with the number, instead of opening a ticket that goes nowhere.
- Spots the hazards
Water main break, a tree across the road, a washout, a missing stop sign. Those go straight to the public works supervisor on call.
- Opens the request
The category, location, size and the caller's words, in the work order queue, with a ticket number read back.
- Takes photos by text
It texts a link so the resident can send a picture, which lands on the ticket for the crew.
- Calls back if asked
When the crew closes the ticket, the resident can get a text saying it's been repaired.
Example call
- CustomerThere's a huge pothole on Concession 4 that's going to wreck someone's car.
- AI agentThanks for calling it in. Whereabouts on Concession 4? A house number or the nearest side road helps the crew find it.
- CustomerJust east of Sideroad 15, in the westbound lane. Near the red barn.
- AI agentIs it in the middle of the lane, and roughly how big? Like a dinner plate, or bigger?
- CustomerBigger. Like a car tire, and deep. Someone's going to blow a rim tonight.
- AI agentThat size on an 80 kilometre road counts as urgent, so I'm sending it to the roads supervisor on call right now. Your ticket is 24-0817. Want a text when it's fixed?
- CustomerYeah, please.
After the call: The on-call roads supervisor got a text with the location and size, and a crew put up a sign and cold patch the same evening. Ticket 24-0817 closed the next morning and the resident got a text.

Questions
How does it decide what's urgent?
From the list your public works department writes: size and depth of potholes on high-speed roads, water on the road in winter, trees down, missing signs. Everything else is a normal ticket.
What if nobody on call answers?
It tries the next person on your rotation, then the backup number, and keeps the resident informed. It never leaves a hazard sitting as a ticket.
Can residents check on an old ticket?
Yes. They give the ticket number or the address and it reads the status from the work order.
