Flyer sofas: in stock or special order, answered
The shopper who saw the grey sofa in Saturday's flyer finds out on one call whether it's in the warehouse, what fabrics it comes in and how long a custom one takes. Then they drive over, to you.
A shopper calls about a sofa, bed or dining set they saw online, in a flyer or on the floor.
Checks warehouse and floor stock, explains fabric grades and lead times, holds a floor model if your rules allow.
A shopper on the way in, with the piece and fabric they asked about noted for the associate.
How it works
- Finds the exact piece
By the name in the flyer, the item number or a description like "the grey one with the chaise". It confirms the configuration, left- or right-arm facing, before checking.
- Checks where it is
On the showroom floor, in the warehouse, on a container from the maker, or special order only. It reads the count and the expected arrival, never a guess.
- Explains special orders
Fabric and leather grades, the price difference your list gives for each grade, and the maker's lead time, said plainly: "about ten to twelve weeks from the order date".
- Offers the floor model
If the piece is a floor model and your policy sells them, it gives the floor-model price from your list and asks whether to hold it until the end of the day.
- Gets them in the door
Asks when they plan to come by and texts the store address, hours and the item number, so the associate can walk them straight to it.
- Tells the floor
The associate on shift gets a note with the piece, the fabric they liked and when they're coming.
Example call
- CustomerHi, that grey sectional in your flyer, the Halston, is it actually in stock or is it one of those special-order things?
- AI agentGood question. Is it the one with the chaise on the left or the right when you're facing it?
- CustomerChaise on the right.
- AI agentI see two of those in our Barrie warehouse in the grey shown in the flyer, at the sale price of 2,199. In any other fabric it's a special order, about ten weeks from the maker.
- CustomerTen weeks is too long. I'll take the grey. Can I see it first?
- AI agentOf course. There's one set up on the floor near the front windows. When were you thinking of coming in?
- CustomerTonight, maybe seven.
- AI agentWe're open until nine. I'll text you the address and the item number, and let Rhonda on the floor know you're coming at seven for the Halston.
After the call: Rhonda gets a text that a shopper is coming at 7 for the right-facing Halston in grey, with two in the warehouse. The caller has the item number and directions, and the call is in the portal.

Questions
Will it promise a delivery date on a special order?
It gives the lead time the maker gives you, as a range. The firm date comes once the piece ships, and it says so.
Can it hold a floor model?
If your policy allows it, yes, for the time you set. It tells the shopper how long the hold lasts.
What about sale pricing and financing offers?
It repeats your sale prices, end dates and financing promotions exactly as you wrote them. Approvals and terms stay with your finance desk.
Can it tell the difference between two similar sofas?
It asks about the arm, the chaise side, the size and the fabric before it checks, so the count it reads is for the right piece.
