Running-low calls before the food bag is empty
A regular's habit breaks the day they run out on a Sunday and grab a bag at the grocery store. The agent works out when each regular's bag should be getting low, calls a few days ahead and has the next one waiting.
A regular's last purchase, bag size and usual gap say they're about a week from empty.
Calls with a friendly nudge, holds the next bag or books local delivery.
Repeat food sales kept in the store, and a count of regulars who drift.
How it works
- Learns each regular's rhythm
From the loyalty records: the 30-pound bag every five weeks, the cat food every three. The usual gap for each customer.
- Calls a few days early
Before the bag is empty, at the calling hours the store sets, to customers who agreed to reminders.
- Keeps it short
"Your Purina Pro Plan is probably getting low. Want me to set one aside?" One question, no pitch.
- Holds or delivers
A hold for pickup, or local delivery on the store's van day if it offers one, with the price from the shelf.
- Catches the changes
A new puppy, a dog on a vet diet, a pet who passed. Each is noted, and the reminder changes or stops.
- Shows who drifted
A regular who hasn't bought in twice their usual gap goes on a list for the manager.
Example call
- AI agentHi Gord, it's Emma from Bark and Bubbles. Quick one. Your Pro Plan large breed should be getting low about now. Want me to set a bag aside?
- CustomerOh, good timing. We're down to the bottom.
- AI agentSame 34-pound bag? We also do delivery in Guelph on Wednesdays, if that's easier than lifting it.
- CustomerDelivery would be great, actually. My back's not loving those bags.
- AI agentYou're on Wednesday's run. It's 87 dollars and 99 cents for the bag plus the 5-dollar delivery, paid at the door. I'll text you Wednesday morning with a time window.
- CustomerPerfect, thanks.
After the call: Gord's 34-pound bag is on Wednesday's delivery list with his address and the price, and his reminder is set for five weeks from delivery day.

- Food sales by reminder, month over month
Questions
Won't regulars find it annoying?
It only calls customers who said yes to reminders, once per bag. A customer who says stop isn't called again.
What if their pet has died?
It says it's sorry, takes them off reminders straight away, and notes it so staff don't ask at the till.
Does it change the price?
No. It reads the current shelf price and any delivery fee you set.
