Inbound: the customer calls

In-home measures booked with subfloor and stairs noted

A measure tech who walks in to find twelve stairs and glued-down tile nobody mentioned has wasted a trip. The agent books the measure with the details first, so the quote is right the first time.

When it starts

A caller ready to have rooms measured, or a showroom customer who picked a floor.

What the agent does

Asks rooms, subfloor, stairs, removal and furniture, books the measure window, texts it.

What your team gets

A measure on the tech's route with the job details, and fewer second trips.

How it works

  1. Counts the rooms

Which rooms, whether they connect, closets included, and a rough square footage if they know it.

  2. Asks about underneath

Plywood or concrete, what's coming up (carpet, laminate, glued tile, hardwood), and any squeaks or soft spots.

  3. Asks about stairs and trim

How many stairs and whether they're open or closed, new baseboards or quarter round, and transitions to other rooms.

  4. Notes the furniture

A piano, a full basement, a home office. It explains what your crew moves and what the customer moves.

  5. Books the measure

A window on the measure tech's route by area, and a text with the time and what to have ready.

  6. Carries the showroom picks

If they've chosen a product, the name and colour go on the measure so the quote is for the right floor.

Example call

  1. CustomerWe need new floors on the main level. Can someone come measure?
  2. AI agentOf course. Which rooms are we talking about, and is there anything coming up first?
  3. CustomerLiving room, dining room and the hall. It's carpet now, and tile in the hall.
  4. AI agentIs the hall tile glued down, do you know? It changes what the crew brings.
  5. CustomerI think so. Oh, and the stairs up to the bedrooms, 13 of them.
  6. AI agentThanks, I'll note 13 stairs. Do you have a floor picked out, or will Dave bring samples?
  7. CustomerWe liked the engineered maple at the showroom.
  8. AI agentGot it. Dave is in your area Wednesday between 9 and 11 or Thursday between 3 and 5. ... Thursday it is. I'll text you the window and the details.

After the call: Dave's Thursday 3 to 5 measure shows three rooms, carpet and glued tile to remove, 13 stairs and engineered maple, so he brings the stair tool and gives one quote on the first visit.

Questions

Do we have to be home?

Yes, for most measures someone needs to let the tech in. The agent says so when it books.

Is the measure free?

It says what you've set, free or a fee that comes off the order.

Can it book a measure for a commercial space?

Yes. It asks the square footage, the hours you can access it and whether the floor is occupied, and books your commercial estimator if you have one.
