Outbound: the agent calls

Refill reminder calls before blood pressure or diabetes meds run out

A patient on blood pressure pills runs out on a Saturday and goes without until Tuesday. The agent calls a few days before, queues the fill, and starts the renewal while there's still time.

When it starts

A patient's days' supply on a maintenance medication is nearly used up.

What the agent does

Calls or texts, confirms they still take it, queues the refill or flags a prescriber request.

What your team gets

Fewer gaps in therapy, steadier monthly fills, and renewals started early.

How it works

  1. Watches the supply

From the last fill date and days' supply on each maintenance medication: blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid, inhalers.

  2. Calls a few days early

Or texts first, as the patient prefers, at the times you set.

  3. Checks they still take it

Same dose? A doctor changed something? Anything new goes to the pharmacist, not into the queue.

  4. Queues the fill

All of their due medications lined up together, for pickup or delivery.

  5. Starts the renewal

No refills left? It asks which doctor and flags it for the dispensary to request, days before they'd run out.

  6. Offers a medication review

Patients on several daily medications are offered a review with the pharmacist, booked in the times you set.

Example call

  1. AI agentHi Mr. Nakamura, it's Emma from Lakeview Pharmacy in Peterborough. Your amlodipine and atorvastatin are due in about four days. Should I get them ready?
  2. CustomerOh, good timing. Yes, please.
  3. AI agentStill the same doses, nothing changed by your doctor?
  4. CustomerSame as before.
  5. AI agentGreat. The atorvastatin has refills left. The amlodipine has none, so the pharmacy will ask Dr. Haddad for a renewal today. Pickup as usual?
  6. CustomerYes. Thanks for catching that.
  7. AI agentYou're welcome. The pharmacist also offers a medication review for people on a few daily medications. Would you like one when you pick up?
  8. CustomerSure, Thursday afternoon.

After the call: The atorvastatin is queued, a renewal request to Dr. Haddad is flagged for the dispensary, and Thursday at 2:30 is booked for a medication review with the pharmacist. Mr. Nakamura gets a text when both are ready.

What your team gets

  • Maintenance refills queued days before patients run out
  • Renewal requests flagged while there's time
  • Medication changes passed to the pharmacist
  • Medication reviews booked with eligible patients
  • A monthly report of refills and renewals from the calls
Set up with you: The team sets up a connection to your dispensary system for fill dates and days' supply, sets which medications get a reminder, how early, and whether patients get a call or a text.

Questions

Will it renew a prescription itself?

No. It flags the renewal for the dispensary to request from the prescriber. The pharmacist and the doctor decide.

What if the patient says the dose changed?

It doesn't queue anything. It passes the change to the pharmacist, who follows up.

Can patients opt out?

Yes. Anyone who says no thanks is taken off the reminder list.
